  • Fireworks are permitted in Scarborough per the Ordinance 608-A only during the following days and times:

    July 3rd and 4th and December 31st and January 1st, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 10:00 p.m.

    Fireworks are not permitted at any time in the Higgins Beach area (ocean side Spurwink Road beginning at the intersection of Black Point Road and Spurwink Road to the Cape Elizabeth line).

    Submission of a Notification of Intent to the Scarborough Fire Department is required to use fireworks during designated times (excludes Higgins Beach area). Please complete the form below.

    Fireworks Ordinance & Guidelines

    Please read the Consumer Fireworks Ordinance and Respect Your Neighbors Consumer Fireworks Guidelines, then fill out the form on the next page to notify Scarborough Public Safety of your intention to set off fireworks in the Town of Scarborough.
  • A person shall not use, display, fire, or cause to be exploded (collectively, “Setting Off”) consumer fireworks within the Town of Scarborough or in or from any watercraft within waters of the Town except upon the following conditions:

    a) All of Scarborough with the exception of the ocean side Spurwink Road beginning at the intersection of Black Point Road and Spurwink Road to the Cape Elizabeth line, fireworks are prohibited.

    b) Upon submission of a Notification of Intent to the Scarborough Fire Department in the form appended hereto as Appendix A or through the town’s website at www.scarboroughmaine.org/residents/fireworks.

    c) Only during the following days and times: July 3rd and 4th and December 31st and January 1st, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 10:00 p.m.
